Eve RipsHey, what do people think about the new Barack Obama high school being built? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-new-chicago-high-school-to-be-named-for-obama-20140424,0,7063352.story

Jayme MGiven that the 50+ public school closings were largely in low-income communities and affected over 46,000 children I think the proposed Barack Obama school, given that it will selectively enroll and is set to be built in a relatively wealthier area of the city, is a bit of a "let them eat cake" scenario and reveals the disregard from Emmanuel and the CPS Board for the students of Chicago.

Matt FulleOne of the biggest legislative debates in Illinois right now is on school funding. It's a current debate that will fundamentally alter the way Illinois educates its students. I think this is something.

Some people mentioned changing the property tax system of funding schools. Well, even if we don't change that we can make sure the neediest schools get the money they need and currently aren't from the state.
